All WorkReady U Adult Education classes are FREE (really, NO COST FOR CLASSES), and our teachers and coaches can even help you locate additional financial aid, such as our 5-for-6 Scholarship, so you can keep moving forward with your education!
There are also additional scholarship funds available to help with any testing or supply fees related to taking a high school equivalency exam, such as HiSET or GED.
If you are under the age of 19 and you need to earn your high school equivalency, then you do need to meet some additional qualifications.
- You must be at least 16 years of age to take either the HiSET® or GED® exam, and if between the ages of 16-18 you must provide all of the following additional documentation to be eligible to test:
- Enrollment in and/or authorization by an approved WorkReady U (WRU) program.
- Enrollment in a state-recognized LA "Options" program within the K–12 system and the required testing authorization.
- HiSET® or GED® Official Practice Test for Educators administered by WorkReady U (WRU) program with state qualifying scores (Prepared or Well-Prepared).
- Our classes last for 8-weeks, but you don't have to stop attending after that time if you are still working on the skills you need, or your high school equivalency. If you finish sooner, that's great too!
- Most students attend classes at least 3-9 hours per week-the more class time you attend, the closer you are to your goal!
- Some classes are online, if this option works best for your learning style, schedule, and you have access to the technology you need.
- We LOVE to see our students at in-person classes, which are offered on the following days and times, by location:
Once you complete an application to our program (you'll need to set up an email account if you don't have one already), you will be contacted to schedule an intake and orientation meeting so we can find out more about your goals, needs, and how we can serve you best.
Then there will be an assessment to take but it's NOT a pass or fail test. This assessment tells us where your skills are right now so we can customize your learning plan to give you the instruction and preparation you need to be successful.
