Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College is committed to providing students, their families and the campus community full disclosure of all consumer information as required by state and federal laws and regulations. The laws are intended to satisfy the students’ right to know and provide the opportunity for students to make fully informed choices regarding the institution they choose to attend. In accordance with federal regulations set forth by The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, below is a summary of consumer information that must be disclosed. Each topic listed gives a brief description of the information that must be disclosed and explains how it may be obtained. The faculty listed in the website is the regular, full-time faculty of this region and subject to change. Other faculty may be appointed, depending on the instructional needs of the region. Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College seeks to provide a safe, healthy, pleasant environment for its faculty, staff, and students. To this end, the use of smoke-producing tobacco products and the advertising, sale, free distribution, and discarding of such tobacco products shall be prohibited in all indoor and outdoor facilities and in all state-owned vehicles. The policy extends to faculty, staff, students, vendors, guests, and visitors.

Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (Northwest LTCC) seeks to maintain a workplace that fosters respect and promotes a harmonious and productive working relationship. Northwest LTCC prohibits discrimination and/or harassment based on race, color, religion, sex (including identity and pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status and/or any other basis protected by federal or state law by any person, student, applicant, vendor or contractor. Northwest LTCC also prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or harassment, or who participates in an investigation into discrimination or harassment.
Under 34 CFR 668.43(a)(10), an institution must include information regarding institutional policies and sanctions related to the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material in the list of institutional information provided upon request to prospective and enrolled students. Summary of Civil and Criminal Penalties for Violation of Federal Copyright Laws. Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17) of the United States Code). These rights include the right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or “statutory” damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For “willful” infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can, in its discretion, also assess costs and attorneys’ fees. Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense.
